Starpower Competition
Congratulations to all the students who took part in the Starpower competition in May. We came away with some fantastic results.Flipside Dance Excels Again!
"It was a tiring yet really fun week of dance and performance work shops", explains one elated pupil of Flipside Dance's recent Summer School.
Held at ACS International School in Cobham at the end of August, the 5-day course was packed with dance classes of all different genres and styles, including Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary and Musical Theatre, whilst there were also the very popular and more diverse drama and circus skills workshops, all of which were delivered by fully qualified, specialist instructors.

FLIPSIDE CARNIVAL SHOW 2011
It was an explosive start to the Flipside Dance’s end of year show ‘Carnival Remix’ at The Nomads Theatre in East Horsley recently, as an imposing Mr Carnival (Keir Hylands) entered the stage on stilts, followed by a loud series of fireworks.
The show continued in contrast with charm and elegance as the dolly ballerina’s, little lollypop and candy floss girls and a stunning revolving Pointe carousel dance led the audience through a magical, mystical world of weird and wonderful entertainers to an impressive crescendo with the Moulin Rouge spectacular.
Involving students from 5 to 18, the show contained 29 dances of enormous diversity, from lyrical to tap, jazz to hip hop and involved all the celebration and vivid colour of a true carnival.
The show was directed and choreographed by professional dancer and owner of Flipside Dance, Deborah Rich, with additional ballet choreography from Monica Harrington.
Deborah recently won the choreographic award at the International Starpower Competition, whilst her ‘Flipside Chicks’ also won the entertainment award with their hip hop number.

FLIPSIDE DANCE CLASSES FOR ADULTS
What is it?
This is a high-powered energetic dance fitness class with a difference. Specifically designed for adults, our classes will increase your heart rate and burn calories through high-energy dance and resistance training routines in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Classes will combine a mix of aerobics with Jazz, Latin and Street Dance whilst there is also a floor section in the middle, specifically intended to target the abs/bums/thighs.
Flipside Dance Starpower 2011 Results
Well done to all the Flipside students who took part in the Starpower competition in May, you all did fantastically well. Dates for next year are 19th-20th May 2012.

ALL 15-19 SOLOISTS WERE PLACE OUT OF 24 ENTRIES
7. 15-19 Duets, Missy Chicks, 3rd place out of 11 entries.
8. 15-19 Trios, Burlesque Divas, 5th place out of 11 entries.
9. 8 & Under Small Groups, Flipside teeny Boppers, 2nd place out of 6 entries.
10. 9-11 Large Group, Flipside Kaos, 3rd place out of 5 entries.
11. 12-14 Line Group, Flipside Chicks, 1st place and the award for most entertaining groups of the weekend.
12. 15-19 Line Group, Flipside Diaspora, 1st place and the choreographer award to Deborah Rich for this Dance.
